It’s important that the Town of Port Hedland is represented by a local with a passion for the community. I am recontesting for the Mayoral position because I’ve made my home here for the past 14 years and I genuinely care and have worked hard for the people in my community. I want to make sure the Town of Port Hedland is led by someone who is committed, connected with the community and understands.

Over my time, I have been employed as a barmaid, gardener, sustainability officer and Visitor Centre Manager.  An environmental scientist by training, I take pride in my role in establishing the Care For Hedland Environmental Association and consider my contribution over the past four years as Town of Port Hedland Mayor as some of my best efforts.

Over the past 14 years I’ve been a passionate advocate for our community and our Town in many ways. I have worked hard these past four years to put Port Hedland on the map. From encouraging growth and investment in the region, tourism, Local Government, Tidy Towns, various anti litter initiatives such as starting the Cash For Trash program.

In addition to my role as Mayor, I also currently hold the following roles in the region: Deputy Chair RDA WA Pilbara, Deputy Chair Pilbara Regional Council, (WA), Member Hedland Senior High School Independent Public School (IPS) Board Committee Member Rose Nowers Early Learning Centre, Chair Local Emergency & Response Committee – Port Hedland, Chairperson Care For Hedland Environmental Association Inc, Member of the BHP Billiton Community Consultative Committee Group, Member Soroptimist International Port Hedland, Ambassador WA KABC Tidy Towns/Sustainable Communities, Member Port Hedland Port Authority Port Consultative Committee, Patron North West Region Netball Association, Patron Port Hedland Netball Association and Member Links Netball Club – A Grade.

Over the past four years I have worked hard for our community. I genuinely care about our Town and believe it should be led by someone with commitment, strong connections to the community and real vision.

The growth and the change in recent years has been incredible. I will continue working hard to attract State and Federal Government funding and focus on much needed investment in family friendly facilities, services and events.

If re-elected, I will work hard on:

* Promoting affordable family home and larger block sizes.

* Reducing the reliance on rates and minimising rate increases.

* Opposing future FIFO camps.

* Continuing $1 chil pool entry.

* Protecting West End property rights.

* Cutting red tape for developers.

* Encouraging small business.

* Tip shop recycling at the Landfill.

* Increasing youth opportunities and youth facilities in South Hedland.

Let me continue working for you as Mayor to complete what has been started.
